In Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour" (1894), Mrs. Mallard received two shocking news within an hour. The first news revived her, while the second news killed her. This famous short story expresses Chopin's dissatisfaction regarding women's roles in marriages and their desire to break free from the patriarchal restriction and oppression. Love, for Mrs. Mallard, is in fact a violence in disguise because it is carried out by "imposing a private will upon a fellow-creature." In paragraph 19, Kate Chopin mentioned that Mrs. Mallard’s truly feelings, like Spring days and Summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own. It means that she wouldn’t have to live for someone else.

Based on the year of publishing, I don't think that women had the right to decide her own fate after her “master in the social system”, husband, died.
What is women’s chance to identify her value in nineteen century? Certainly, women as the additional role to men, marriage is the only way out to be in the normal people. In western culture, there is no insistence similar to Chinese staying as a widow. Not mentioned in nineteen century. A woman can probably fit into the society by her marriage. Kate Chopin didn’t put too much emphasis on the how Mrs. Mallard expressing her mental dimension. But the description of the setting did. “There stood, facing the open window, a comfortable, roomy armchair”. Another novel published in nineteen century, “Vanity Fair,” describing a woman’s willing to do anything intending to be accepted in the so-called “upper class,” conveying the similar background idea. Woman needs marriage to proof to be alive. I think if Mr. Mallard were dead instead of misunderstanding, Mrs. Mallard will choose to marry to someone whose family is more distinguish, eminent, or famous. Though Mrs. Mallard got more dreams than marring, she can’t escape from the conventional reality.

From the story, we can simply tell Mrs. Mallard’s ecstasy of being free. Without her husband’s existence, everything seemed to be different. She was held by monstrous joy in paragraph 12. The word”freedom” made her pulse so fast as if she has obtained an entirely new life. The ecstasy activated every cell, pore, and even blood vessel in Mrs. Mallard’s body.
As her husband no longer exists, she can live a life that she herself being the protagonist. First, suppose she can, she can inherit her husband’s heritage. If Mrs. Mallard’s husband were actually dead, she might feel great joyful at first time, because she broke through the jail of the traditional responsibility to her husband. But after she had enjoyed her wonderful life without her husband for a little while, she would receive a lot of pressure about people suggest her that to merry to another man or not to hang out with any other men. She indeed had escape her husband, however, she definitely would be overwhelmed by many pieces of suggestions from other people (especially from her husband’s family) to tell her to do this or not to do this.

If Mrs. Mallard's husband were dead and she had opportunities to realize her dreams, she would be free and she could hang out with her friends all day long without her husband’s permission. If Mrs. Mallard was a window, she would start to plan what she wants to do and where she wants to go. Surly she might shows her grief and accepts other people's concerns. But she would not tell them what she was going to do. She might make an excuse that could let her go between city and city. She would spend her time in art. She might meet a person who was her soul mate. But she would not marry again. They might live together and have no related in law. Her family would never know what she did before her dead.

Mrs. Mallard was like a bird caged by the demands of the social stereotype and her husband’s expectations of how a house wife should be. Now that she is finally free to pursue any interest as she pleases, I would imagine that there would be changes in not only her surroundings but also her personality.
For her surroundings he may make new arrangement for the house. Take the furnishing or example; she can get rid of her husband’s things and buy new ones that she favors. Then house is finally all to herself now, she can feel relaxed and released from the pressures of her husband.
As for her personality, I would imagine that she would hold a much more positive attitude towards’ life. She is already a widow now so there is no need to care of the social judgments and the gossips among the neighbor. She can go out to parties’ everyday and forget about house chores. If she is left with a fortune then there’d an even large variety of things to do.
Life without her husband might be a bit lonely ay first (maybe not at all), but I am sure it would be a much colorful one!

If Mrs. Mallard were a widow, she may not really know what she wants to do most in the very beginning. She never makes decision by herself, so she looks around the area she lived in. She may follow what men do because anything only allows men to do. She would be criticized by any others who were conservative. She would not be controlled by what others said, though she may under enormous pleasure and depression. She lives on her own for a while, and she wants to find a job. But there are no one wants to give her a chance, only because she is a woman.
Later, she leaves the country where has many miserable memory. She reaches a place where no one teases a widow. Understanding to fight for her life, she works hard without men’s help. Finally, she becomes very successful and is famous as a business women owning every women’s admire. When she goes back her hometown, everyone shows respect on the independence woman.
She’ll not be bound by her husband or the society anymore. She no longer has to be who she is thought to be, and she can live for herself.

Maybe her husband left a big sum of indemnities and she could make free with all of the money. If Mrs. Mallard's husband was dead and Mrs. Mallard became a widow with lots of money, I think she will start her noble life and live a happy life ever after. I have arranged the schedule what she can do in a day. First, she can sleep until she really want to get up, then she can have a graceful brunch. After the meal, she can take a slow walk to the park, and read the books beneath the comfortable sunshine. Next, she can invite her good friends for the afternoon tea time. They can spend all the afternoon to chat with each others. In the evening, she can enjoy a luxury meal in the high-class restaurant. After that, she can see an wonderful opera in the theater. Finally, she goes back to home, enjoy the bubble bath spa and end the fantastic day.
